“I was searching for more than just new LANs to conquer.”

Gabriel S.
Information Services Division Intern
Arizona Dept. of Administration

Finding the right internship is so much easier when you’ve got a pretty good idea about what you want to do with your life. In Gabriel’s case, he found his fit with ADOA’s Information Services Division. Being a computer engineering student, he hoped he would be doing more than just helping with a few IT solutions in the local area network arena. And indeed he has -- gathering information to upgrade a new datacenter committed to disaster recovery; assisting with a project investment justification plan; and reviewing a new E-mail conversion project that, when fully implemented, will have a far-reaching effect on all State of Arizona agencies, boards and commissions.

Summing it all up, Gabriel says, “Not only did I get the opportunity to see how our state government uses technology, but I was thrilled to learn from great people, and be part of projects that will have such positive impacts on our State." His advice to new interns, “Come in with a good attitude and work ethic, and you’ll come away with a great experience that makes it all worthwhile.”
